For the past 40 years, TASCHEN has been synonymous with making art, anthropology, and other captivating subjects accessible to book-lovers worldwide, allowing them to curate their own extraordinary libraries. Since our inception as cultural archaeologists in 1980, we have remained steadfast in our company credo.

In 2020, we celebrated 40 years of incredible publications by introducing new, more compact editions of some of the shining stars in our program, while preserving the same commitment to impeccable production quality.

One such gem is The Polaroid Book, which pays homage to the beloved instant camera format and its unique tones and spontaneity that have endeared it to enthusiasts for decades. Evoking the warmth and nostalgia of a family album, this collection features hundreds of images drawn from the Polaroid Corporation's own archives – a chronicle of the experimental and innovative ways Polaroids have defied the digital age.

The Polaroid Corporation's photography collection is the largest and most impressive portfolio of Polaroid images in the world. Established by Polaroid founder Edwin Land and photographer Ansel Adams, the collection now encompasses some 23,000 works by hundreds of photographers from around the globe, including renowned artists such as David Hockney, Andy Warhol, and Jeanloup Sieff.

Much like an oversized Polaroid film pack, this captivating volume curates a diverse array of works by both luminaries and lesser-known talents, celebrating the boundless creative possibilities that unfold within the iconic white borders of the original instant photograph.
